Although many studies have discussed the distribution of ITGs, no systematic research on ITGs and associated histone modifications in G. hirsutum has been reported yet. In this study, the characteristics of genic genes and ITGs in tetraploid cotton (G. hirsutum) and diploid cotton (G. arboretum) were analyzed using transcriptome sequencing. Moreover, high-throughput sequencing (ChIP-Seq) was performed against the three histone modifications (H3K27ac, H3K4me3, and H3K4me1) in G. hirsutum, and their relationship with ITGs was comprehensively analyzed.
