A STUDY OF THE STATE OF STRUGGLE OF THE TRANSGENDER IN "A GIFT OF GODDESS LAKSHMI"

Human beings are born and brought up in asociety where they take predefined rolesassigned to them based on their sexes. Sex andgender shouldn’t be mistaken as the samebecause sex refers to the biological status of aperson and gender often refers to the nature onefeels about oneself. Even though transgendersare recognized as the third gender next to maleand female, they are not accepted widely insocieties. They are still struggling for the basichuman rights and needs and their acceptance isstill at stake. There are certain problems thattransgenders are struggling with for their veryexistence in the society. The main problemofbeing a transgender is that, they are not beingwelcomed in public places like educationalinstitutions, hospitals, workplace, hotels, malls,restaurants, theatres, dance floor, etc. Even ifthey are welcomed, they are looked down anddisrespected by onlookers.
