Deviations in whole body angular momentum are largely corrected before foot placement

This repository contains the data and analysis code for Berkelmans et al. (2025, pre print), “Deviations in whole-body angular momentum are largely corrected before foot placement”(doi: https://doi.org/10.64898/2025.12.03.692080). The study investigates mediolateral foot placement control during walking following mechanical perturbations that selectively affect whole-body linear or angular momentum. All scripts required to reproduce the analyses and figures in the manuscript are included. For each participant, the dataset contains raw CSV data (marker trajectories, perturbation and load cell data), gait event files, and participant-specific OpenSim models and settings. MATLAB and Python scripts are provided for OpenSim batch processing, computation of center-of-mass dynamics and whole-body angular momentum, foot placement modeling, data normalization, and figure generation. A detailed README file is included in the repository, describing the data structure, code dependencies, and usage of each script.
