NRS-21559 | Records of the Public Inquiry [Inquiry under the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991 (RSL)]

This series comprises of the working records of the public Inquiry into The Returned Services League of Australia (New South Wales Branch), RSL Welfare and Benevolent Institution and RSL LifeCare Limited that include significant incoming and outgoing correspondence that happened throughout the course of the Inquiry. Significant correspondence material was arranged by Senior Legal Team on the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation’s (DFSI) shared network at the end of the Inquiry. It originated from the Senior Counsels email in-box folder structure but full versions of email chains and attachments were not always included by Senior Legal Team.The network folders at DFSI provided storage for Applications for Leave to Make Oral Submissions, Applications to Appear, Notices and Summons. This material was imported into Relativity, an ediscovery electronic document system. Files saved to the DFSI (Inquiry) network during the life of the Inquiry were also saved though they previously existed in Relativity creating a issue of duplication within the series and the Exhibits series NRS 21558.The series does not seek to represent the entire set of correspondence which may have occurred or been received, but certainly represents the best thinking of the Senior Legal Team as they gave distinct detailed instructions in relation to material at a very granular level, item by item for inclusion in this series over the course of the Inquiry.The material that was generated during private meetings prior to the Inquiry being a delegated authority to conduct Public hearings are also contained. Meetings held were called "Private Hearings" and transcripts were prepared from these meetings - these are confidential meetings and Records of Interview. All material was stored in Relativity with no redactions applied, and restricted for review by the Senior Legal Team only.Instructions were received from the Senior Legal Team to place the Terms of the Inquiry and Practice Directions which were set out as guidelines. These documents were also on the DFSI website for 12 months after the Inquiry closed. Documents were prepared, reviewed and approved by the Senior Legal Team before the documents were uploaded. These documents were drawn from the DFSI website for archival purposes.Email within this series contain attachments. These attachments are primarly made up of PDF documents and various Microsoft Office files, such as Word documents. The attachments remain within the email and have also been removed as separate records within the series.
