This series comprises statistics collected by the Joint Coal Board on coal exports and interstate consumption in Australia. Before 1982 exports and interstate consumption were recorded together. From 1982 statistics on exports and interstate consumption were recorded in separate ledgers. The information recorded includes the country or state the coal was exported to, the type of coal that was exported and the amount of coal consumed per Australian state. Earlier records also note the stocks of coal in each state. Statistics are noted weekly, yearly and/or in progressive summaries. The statistics are presented in a series of tables and organised into separate sections for each state. The series is arranged chronologically.
