NC Fire Stations

This GIS dataset represents all active fire stations that provide fire services to residents in North Carolina. This data is collected and maintained as a part of the 9S fire rating program by the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal which is a section of the North Carolina Department of Insurance. A “Fire Station” is defined in 11 NCAC 05A.0901 as a building for the housing of fire department apparatus and personnel. Under the same Administrative code, a “Fire Department” is defined as an organization established or organized under applicable State and local laws, for the purpose of limiting, reducing, or preventing damage or personal injury caused by fire or other emergency.
