Data for "Forecasting Exceptional Growth of Pre-Emergent, Emergent, and Mature Research Communities"

Data used in a study that identifies three different growth stages for research communities (pre-emergent, emergent and mature). This study also develops predictive models for each stage, expands the scope of eligible research communities from 20,747 to 52,628 and extends the forecast period from three to six years, improved the accuracy and utility of our predictions over our previous studies. The resulting models offer a robust tool for anticipating exceptional growth in research communities over a six-year period. These advances have profound implications for both theory development and applications. The related study also contributes to a deeper theoretical understanding of how research evolves and provides a data-driven approach for nominating high-potential research areas at different stages of evolution.
