Genomic sequencing of Colletes gigas

As the largest Colletes bee species in the world, Colletes gigas (Hymenoptera: Colletidae) is a pollen-specialist and is endemic to China. It is genetically, morphologically, and ecologically distinct from other colletid species with different geographic distributions and floral choices. Its life cycle is consistent with the flowering period of Ca. oleifera. Ca. oleifera blooms in cold climates and contains special compounds that make it an unavailable pollen source to other pollinators. Thus, C. gigas undoubtedly plays a key role as the main pollinator of Ca. oleifera, with biological and economic significance. Here we provide additional next generation sequencing data (raw reads of genomes) for Population genomics and phylogeography analyses for C. gigas.
