Using a forward genetic approach, we identified hsm13 harbors high levels of rhizosphere beneficial Pseudomonas, and further genetic study confirmed that HSM13 encodes a FERRONIA kinase. We grew hsm13 and Col-0 (wild type) in natural soil from the UBC farm and sequenced the rhizosphere microbiome from all plant rhizosphere samples and bulk soil. We also sequenced rhizosphere samples from coi1-16, ctr1-1 and and myc2 over expression mutants as well as wounded plants.
