University of Warsaw Herbarium (WA): fungi

The mycological collection of the University of Warsaw (WA) comprises dried specimens of fungi (approximately 35,000), lichens (approximately 6,000), and slime moulds (approximately 250). The collection forms part of the General Herbarium of the University of Warsaw, which was established in the early nineteenth century by Michał Szubert. The majority of the specimens have been collected by researchers from the University of Warsaw during their research projects and scientific expeditions, while a smaller portion has been donated by international collaborators and amateur researchers. The fungarium is actively used by both Polish and international scientists, and the preserved material serves as an important resource for taxonomic research, biodiversity studies, and nature conservation assessments.
