Pseudoalteromonas luteoviolacea strain 2ta16 was isolated from the Scleractinian coral Montastrea annularis (Boulder Star coral) in the Florida Keys, USA. The 2ta16 strain shows high inhibitory activity against marine alpha- and gamma-proteobacteria in agar diffusion competition assays (Rypien KL et al. 2010. Environ Microbiol 12:28-39; PMID: 19691500). To explore the genetic and metabolic potential of antimicrobial secondary metabolite synthesis in this strain, the 6.36 Mbp high-quality draft genome sequence is presented.
