Biotech projects on medicines in development in Spain 2023, by therapeutic area

As of February 2023, cancer was the therapeutic area with the highest share of biotech projects on medicines in development in Spain. By origin, around 71 percent were investigated by multinational subsidiaries, while 29 percent corresponded to national companies. Moreover, biotechnology projects on drugs for the central nervous system made up about 27 percent of the biotech pipeline on medications under development in Spanish companies as of that date.
