L-cysteine reduces the severity of experimental chronic pancreatitis.

A Mann-Whitney U test was used to evaluate the differences among the groups. Chronic pancreatitis groups showed pancreatic fibrosis and damage (#p<0.01 vs. groups a and b). L-cysteine administration alleviated pancreatic fibrosis (*p<0.05 vs. group c, **p<0.01 vs. group c).
