Neurogenic bladder (NB)-induced fibrosis is the major cause of irreversible bladder dysfunction, yet the underlying mechanisms remain undefined. Here, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing on bladder tissues collected from rats following bilateral pelvic nerve injury, and characterized the alterations in the bladder microenvironment post-injury. Overall design: A rat model of neurogenic bladder was established via bilateral pelvic nerve injury (BPNI). Bladder tissues from control (sham-operated, n=3), 3-day post-injury (n=3), and 28-day post-injury groups (n=2) were processed for single-cell RNA sequencing using the 10X Genomics Chromium platform.
