The author examines the position of man before God before and after the fall, analyzes the beginning of the history of death, studies rebellion against one’s neighbour in the context of the Bible, examines God’s announcement to Cain as an expression of His grace. God issues a law - a commandment for the protection of Cain. The fate of the murderer is difficult and unenviable, because he is rejected by people and deprived of divine blessings. God is full of mercy and bends down to the lowest fallen sinner – his child, to give a time of mercy, instead of destroying the murderer in righteous anger. On April 12, 2023, an article by journalist Artis Drēziņš was published in a newspaper Latvijas Avīze: ““I grabbed her braid, wrapped it around her neck...” The young man brutally killed his classmate, for which he feels ashamed in front of himself and her mother”. In it, readers could learn about a recent murder that shocked Latvian society. The court’s sentence for the criminal was more lenient than the prosecutor, the investigator and the public wanted. The journalist’s article reveals the nature of the sinner, which has not changed since the time of the first murderer, Cain. The author finds similarities between the nature and reasons for the crime of Cain and the murderer of our time, Daniel Markov.
