The Protist EST Program (PEP) is a large project undertaken by a Consortium of six Canadian universities whose objectives are to sequence ESTs and identify the expressed portions of genomes from many different protists. The PEP has started to sequence ESTs from Acanthamoeba castellanii, an opportunistic human pathogen.
