Quality assessment checklist for publications to be considered for review - Adapted from JBI and CASP

According to Whittemore & Knafl, two quality criterion instruments should be utilized during the review process to assure the authenticity, methodological quality, and informative value of the included research. The CASP tool and the JBI Critical Appraisal Tool each include a set of detailed questions to enhance the visualization of the data. A common checklist is adapted to simplify this complex comparison between the CASP tool and the JBI Critical Appraisal Tool. Each article can be assessed using the adapted checklist to analyze the articles clearly and succinctly. They were adjusted to include the essential criteria stated in both the CASP tool and the JBI Critical Appraisal Tool. The modified checklist includes a clear aim, methodology, design, recruitment, data collection, researcher-participant relations, participants and their voices, ethical considerations, data analysis and rigor, findings, and research value.
