Plant-associated bacterial antagonistic of other microbes genome sequencing and assembly. Lysobacter

The genus Lysobacter consists of several plant-associated bacterial species known for their ability to antagonize other microorganisms. Species are of interest for ecological and agricultural purposes. Many strains have demonstrated beneficial properties, including production of novel antibiotics, extracellular lytic enzymes, and biological controlof plant diseases. The goal of this project was to determine the genome sequences of the experimental model strain Lysobacter enzymogenes and the related species Lysobacter antibioticus, and analyze the genomes to better understand the general biology, parasitic lifestyle and beneficial capacity of Lysobacter species.
