Cepaea nemoralis whole genome sequencing

The highly polymorphic shell colour pattern of Cepaea nemoralis snails is a classic textbook example of natural selection and a popular subject for citizen science studies of adaptation to climate change and urbanization. This helicid snail is also ideally suited for evo-devo studies of shell biomineralization, pigmentation, and supergene evolution. The draft genome assembly of C. nemoralis presented here will be a core resource for a wide range of analyses in evolutionary and developmental biology, population genomics, discovery of shell patterning and chirality genes, and other aspects of snail biology.
