Monitoring of Spring snow cover at Alert, Nunavut

Snow cover is visually estimated every two days from an elevated vantage point that allows estimation of cover over a variety of flat and sloped terrain. The monitoring starts on the date of our arrival at the study site until the end of snowmelt. Descriptive notes are kept on daily weather conditions to complement the full set of climatic variables that are recorded at the Environment Canada Weather Station at Alert. ** Snow cover data are available for download in text files with documentation included at the top of the text files. If data are downloaded and used for analyses, it would greatly be appreciated that the principal investigator be informed.
