African turquoise killifish, Nothobranchius furzeri, is an excellent model organism for aging study, having the shortest captive lifespan among vertebrates and showing highly similar aging phenotypes to humans. Although draft genome assemblies of African turquoise killifish were released previously, they still included numerous sequences that were not assigned to chromosomes and lacked a significant proportion of the genome possibly due to high repeat content. To facilitate understanding of the molecular basis of vertebrate aging, we produce reference African turquoise killifish genome assemblies of higher continuity and completeness by means of long-read sequencing in combination with scaffolding using fine-tune chromatin contact data obtained through proximity ligation.
