哨兵2号是高分辨率多光谱成像卫星,携带一枚多光谱成像仪(MSI),用于陆地监测,可提供植被、土壤和水覆盖、内陆水路及海岸区域等图像,还可用于紧急救援服务。分为2A和2B两颗卫星。哨兵-2号卫星携带一枚多光谱成像仪(MSI),高度为786km,可覆盖13个光谱波段,幅宽达290千米。地面分辨率分别为10m、20m和60m、一颗卫星的重访周期为10天,两颗互补,重访周期为5天。从可见光和近红外到短波红外,具有不同的空间分辨率,在光学数据中,哨兵-2号数据是唯一一个在红边范围含有三个波段的数据,这对监测植被健康信息非常有效。

Sentinel-2 is a high-resolution multispectral imaging satellite equipped with a Multispectral Imager (MSI) for land monitoring. It can provide images of vegetation, soil and water cover, inland waterways and coastal areas, and also supports emergency rescue services. The mission comprises two satellites, Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B. The Sentinel-2 satellites carry a Multispectral Imager (MSI) and operate at an orbital altitude of 786 km, covering 13 spectral bands with a swath width of 290 km. The ground spatial resolutions are 10 m, 20 m and 60 m respectively. The revisit period of a single Sentinel-2 satellite is 10 days, and the two complementary satellites shorten the combined revisit cycle to 5 days. With spectral coverage ranging from visible, near-infrared to shortwave infrared, Sentinel-2 data features different spatial resolutions across bands. Among optical remote sensing datasets, Sentinel-2 data is the only one that includes three red-edge bands, which is highly effective for monitoring vegetation health information.
