Indigo dye is one of the oldest natural dye produced for centuries from Polygonum tinctorium in Japan. So far, the bio synthetic pathway of indigo has not been fully elucidate due to lack of biochemical and molecular analysis. The present investigation reports the expressed transcripts in leaf tissue which is a source of indigo biosynthesis and storage.
