Southeastern Saline Everglades annual land-cover classification layers from 1984 to 2024

This dataset comprised annual land-cover classification layers for the Southeastern Saline Everglades from 1984 to 2024 with an 30 m spatial resolution. The classification includes three classes: Degradation Zone (DZ), Transition Zone (TZ), and Vegetation Zone (VZ), representing the typical land covers in the area. For the classification layers, a value of 1 denotes the vegetation zone (mangrove), 2 denotes the degradation zone, and 3 denotes the transition zone. Degradation zone is characterized by dieback of freshwater species with exposed bright soil and sparse mangrove shrubs. Vegetation zone is characterized by dense mangrove canopy that completely covered the soil surfaces. Transition zone features an approximately equal coverage of mangrove and freshwater species, with vegetation density in between of degradation and vegetation zone.
