Sonothrombolysis is a promising treatment strategy that utilises ultrasound to enhance the lysis of blood clots. Recent studies in sonothrombolysis have found that the addition of microbubbles near the clots can increase clot lysis during ultrasound insonation. However, the selection of the right combination of ultrasound and microbubble parameters is difficult due to the wide range of treatment options being available. This research seeks to develop a computational model to understand how the ultrasound and microbubble parameters interact with each other during sonothrombolysis. The information obtained may provide fundamental insight that is crucial in bringing sonothrombolysis closer to clinical implementation.
