Estimates are that the number of contactless payment transactions in China are four times higher than in the United States as of 2023. This is according to a model that tried to estimate the market size of this digital payment method across various countries worldwide. Note that the source only used this model for the 10 countries listed here. It, for example, did not look into countries in Latin America, Southeast Asia, or Africa. The results here are somewhat different from a country ranking on the adoption of mobile contactless payments, as the figures here refer to cards only. Nevertheless, Asian countries show up in both rankings as some of the leading countries in the world when it comes to contactless payments.
