Measurements of oceanic organosulfur compounds and isoprene; and oceanic and atmospheric halocarbons, methane and nitrous oxide made during the DI234 research cruise in the North-East Atlantic, June-July 1998

This metadata entry refers to measurements of oceanic DMS and DMSP made by Sue Turner and Peter Liss; oceanic and atmospheric methane and nitrous oxide made by Rob Upstill-Goddard; oceanic halocarbons made by Jon Baker; and oceanic isoprene made by Wendy Broadgate during the Discovery 234 research cruise in the North East Atlantic as part of the ACSOE project. The cruise began on 6th June 1998 and ended on 9th July 1998 with a spatial coverage of +54N to +63N latitude and +15W to +23W longitude.

The data consists of:
-117 measurements of the concentration of dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) per unit volume of the water column by Millipore prefiltration and gas chromatography;
-117 measurements of the concentration of dimethyl sulphide (DMS) per unit volume of the water column by Millipore pre filtration purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography; and
-158 measurements of the concentration of dimethyl sulphide (DMS) per unit volume of the water column by filtration, purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography.
-298 measurements of the concentration of methane (CH4) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by gas chromatography;
-298 measurements of the saturation of methane (CH4) in the water column (dissolved phase) by computation from concentration; and
-252 measurements of the concentration (v/v) of methane (CH4) per unit volume of the atmosphere by gas chromatography.
-284 measurements of the concentrations of nitrous oxide (N2O) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by gas chromatography;
-284 measurements of the saturation of nitrous oxide (N2O) in the water column by gas chromatography and computation from concentration; and
-240 measurements of the concentration (v/v) of nitrous oxide (N2O) per unit volume of the atmosphere by gas chromatography.
-63 measurements of the concentration of bromomethane per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
-174 measurements of the concentration 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene (isoprene) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography.
