The Aesthetic and Political Practices of East-Central European Music Videos after 2000 (dataset)

Summary: The attached documents summarize the data collected to date on the research of aesthetic and political practices in East-Central European music videos after 2000. The tables (Excel) provide a detailed quantification of the first 50 music videos from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland, while also offering an overview of the music journalism scene in these countries. The summary research (Word) then provides a deeper insight into the overall context of creating the videos, their distribution, and the subsequent reactions from listeners and the general public. The dataset includes: File 1 (Tabulky/Tables) – Music video database – available data for the current sample of 50 Czech, Slovak, and Polish music videos (the table contains basic information for each entry, including available YouTube metrics and short annotations). File 2 (Tabulky/Tables) – Overview table of Czech, Slovak, and Polish music media, websites, and online sections/columns (including key authors) focused on music and musical production. File 3 (Souhrny a rešerše/Summaries and Research) – Journalistic research summaries for selected music videos (articles about performers and their music, interviews, reactions, and “after-life” of music videos). File 4 (Souhrny a rešerše/Summaries and Research) – Findings from Polish music journalism and the history of the Polish (primarily alternative) music scene. Working material.
