Total RNA was extracted from leaves of wild plants collected within and around common bean fields in four agro-ecological zones in Tanzania. Extracted RNA was pooled into seven unique pools. In addition, RNA was extracted from five wild plants (pool AIVN-1) and common bean plants inoculated with the sap from wild plants (pools AIVN-2 and AIVN-3). RNAs shorter than 50 nucleotides were isolated from the gel following acrylamide gel electrophoresis and cDNA libraries were prepared and sequenced by Illumina Genome Analyzer (Illumina). The kit version HiSeq 3000/4000 SBS was used for all samples, except for samples AIVN-1 to AIVN-3 Illumina NextSeq platform was used.
