This series comprises of track engineering reports that contain research from the Newport Laboratory and Track Engineering section mostly relating to the testing, wear, defects and failure of rails. They were used to understand and develop methods to fix and remedy rail failure.The information contained within the reports include statistics of rail failure types, visual identification methods of rail failure, ultrasonic testing methods and various other rail technical information.
