Japan Energy Database

The Japan Energy Database provides a comprehensive and harmonized dataset of municipal-level energy supply and demand across all 1,741 municipalities in Japan. It integrates various national statistics, including the Energy Balance Table, and renewable energy datasets. The dataset includes sectoral energy consumption (residential, industrial, commercial, transportation, etc.) and energy supply sources (fossil fuels, electricity, renewable energy, biomass),for each municipality. The database is designed to support energy system modeling, spatial energy analysis, and scenario assessment toward Japan’s decarbonization goals. It enables detailed examination of regional energy structures, renewable integration potentials, and inter-municipal linkages within national and local energy planning frameworks.
