资源简介:
Oxford Archaeology was commissioned by Orion Heritage to undertake an archaeological evaluation at the site of a proposed retirement complex at 111 Ock Street, Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The work was undertaken as a condition of planning permission. The evaluation was undertaken between the 1st and 2nd of June 2017 and comprised two 15m-long trenches. The trenches uncovered stone walls comprising part of a malthouse shown on the 1874 Ordnance Survey town map, as well as a smaller outbuilding. A further feature, possibly a ditch, had been backfilled with roof tile that probably derived from the demolition of a 15th-17th cneturay building, but no in situ evidence for such a structure was found.
