Dataset of paper "Modeling the current distribution of Pouteria decorticans (Sapotaceae) in the Amazon Basin"

Description This dataset compiles all verified occurrence records of Pouteria decorticans across its known distribution in the Amazon Basin. Records were sourced from GBIF, speciesLink and the NY Herbarium French Guiana e-flora project. All entries were manually checked for taxonomic accuracy, locality consistency, coordinate correctness, and removal of duplicates or misidentifications.Coordinates were validated against locality descriptions, and missing coordinates were georeferenced using the Google Maps platform. The dataset supports the Species Distribution Modeling analysis conducted in the paper “Modeling the current distribution of Pouteria decorticans (Sapotaceae) in the Amazon Basin” by Gama et al. Duplicates were removed using collector name, record number, herbarium barcode. Coordinates were cross-checked with locality descriptions. When coordinates were missing, georeferencing was performed manually. Records with clear taxonomic or spatial inconsistencies were discarded. Geographic scope Amazon Basin: Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, and Suriname Temporal scope Records from 1947–2025.
