The effects of ceftriaxone on the gut microbiome

This study aimed to investigate the effects of ceftriaxone (CTX) on the gut microbiome in mice, with a focus on sex-specific implications. Mice received CTX at 200 mg/kg per day for four days, and changes in gut microbial diversity and composition were assessed at specified intervals for 100 days. This research is relevant for understanding how antibiotic treatment impacts the gut microbiome differently in males and females, with potential implications for substance abuse treatment.
