Lumbar discectomy with lumbar disc implant and its association with quality of life in patients with lumbar disc herniation at a Peruvian military hospital, 2023–2024

This dataset contains anonymized clinical and quality-of-life data from patients with lumbar disc herniation who underwent lumbar discectomy with disc implant at Hospital FAP, Lima (2023–2024). The study is an observational analytical research project designed to evaluate postoperative quality of life outcomes using the SF-36 questionnaire.
Variables included in the dataset comprise demographic characteristics (age, sex), clinical features (type and level of disc herniation), surgical procedure details, and SF-36 domain scores and total scores. The dataset allows analysis of the association between surgical intervention and postoperative quality of life, as well as subgroup comparisons according to clinical and demographic factors.
All data were de-identified prior to sharing to protect patient confidentiality. This dataset supports the findings reported in the thesis titled: “Lumbar discectomy plus disc implant associated with quality of life in patients with lumbar disc herniation at Hospital FAP Lima 2023–2024.”
The dataset can be used for secondary analyses, meta-analyses, and comparative research on surgical outcomes and quality of life in lumbar disc herniation.
