Colinear synthesis of an antigen-specific B-cell epitope with a 'promiscuous' tetanus toxin T-cell epitope: a synthetic peptide immunocontraceptive.

The response was very strong and sustained. Immunization of rabbits with this baboon epitope conjugated to the tetanus toxoid T-cell epitope resulted in an improved antibody response as compared to the response to the homologous human LDH-C4 epitopes hc1-20 (STVKEQLIEKLIEDDENSQC) or hc9-20 given alone. These epitope homologues are slightly shorter or longer than the baboon epitope and have one amino acid difference (baboon Lys 16 to human Glu 16).
