Investigating Olfactory Proteins in the Terrestrial Isopod Hemilepistus reaumurii

This project delves into the study of olfactory proteins in Hemilepistus reaumurii, a species within the order Isopoda that exhibits a high degree of adaptation to terrestrial life. Our research involved sequencing and analyzing the transcriptomes of the antennae and the first pair of legs of H. reaumurii, with a particular emphasis on soluble olfactory proteins. The goal of this study is to shed light on the role of chemosensory proteins in olfaction among terrestrial crustaceans, thereby contributing to our broader understanding of sensory biology in arthropods. Through this endeavor, we aim to uncover novel insights into the complex world of arthropod sensory systems and their adaptation mechanisms.
