C. roseus produces monoterpene indole alkaloids (MIA) compounds. The biochemical pathways that synthesize these therapeutic and commercially-relevant compounds is incomplete. A set of culture cells and roots under elicitor treatments were sampled and using next generation sequencing we generated a robust transcriptome assembly for C. roseus. Representation of known genes within the MIA biosynthetic pathway were found. Thus, this transcriptome provide a rich resource for understanding plant specialized metabolism.
