Interest for research in university students

This dataset includes anonymized information from 339 psychology students enrolled in a regular academic program at a private university in Lima, Peru. Participants were at various stages of their educational training, ranging from the first to the eleventh semester. The dataset provides valuable insights into students’ interest in research across different stages of their academic training. It comprises two main categories of information. The first includes sociodemographic data such as age, biological sex, marital status, place of birth, current semester of study, current employment status, whether they have ever failed a university course, and estimated family income. The second category consists of responses to instruments measuring research-related attitudes and perceptions: the Interest in Research Questionnaire (IRQ, 16 items), designed to assess students’ level of interest in research; the Research Perceived Competency Scale (RPCS, 4 items), which evaluates perceived research competence; and a single item assessing interest in preparing a presentation to be delivered at a scientific event.
