Microbial community of two sediment cores collected from landward walls of New Britain Trench Raw sequence reads

The inner (landward) trench wall of New Britain Trench (NBT) is the typically active continental margins with steep descents into trenches. Unlike passive margins, they lack a continental rise and abyssal plain and the continental slope ends in an oceanic trench. Although the study of trench received more and more attention as the developments of sampling equipment, biological understanding of NBT and its related trench walls was limit. In this study, we collected a gravity core (water depth 4524 m, length 70 cm) and a plug-in box core (water depth 4130 m, length 30 cm) from its western and eastern inner trench wall respectively. High resolution of the microbial communities for the two cores was given in 2 cm depth interval, revealed by small-subunit ribosomal RNA gene as marker.
