NRS-2643 | Register of matters dealt with by the President [Council of Education]

These are registers of decisions made by the President of the Council of Education relating to the routine administration of education. The continually expanding administrative demands upon the Council required the delegation of day-to-day administration of minor matters (eg. teaching appointments, sanctioning leaves of absence, making provision for minor repairs to school premises). On 5 October 1871 the Council empowered the President to transact routine business. Decisions made by the President between meetings of the Council were to be ratified by the Council at its next meeting. Each entry shows: name of school, name of writer, the date, registration number and subject of the letter, and the decision made. (1/465-66). 2 vols.
