The occurrence of brominated flame retardants such as Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in water bodies poses a serious threat to aquatic ecosystems. Previous studies have shown that the degradation of TBBPA happens as a cometabolism of TBBPA with glucose, and in this study the degradation is driven by Enterobacter cloacae strain sp. 1. Using a combination of cultivation techniques and label-free proteomics, this study has investigated the physiological and metabolic responses of Enterobacter cloacae strain sp. 1.
