VPRS 16504 Continuing Professional Development Committee Minutes and Papers

The Continuing Professional Development Committee was constituted under Section 82 of the Dental Practice Act 1999 (No. 26/1999), with the purpose of ensuring that registered dental care providers maintained a commitment to education that promoted professional standards and enhanced public safety. The committee was responsible for overseeing a system of mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) for dental care providers in Victoria. The committee, established in early 2004, was composed of:1 Academic2 Board Members1 Dental Specialist2 Dentists1 Dental Prosthetist1 Dental Hygienist1 Dental TherapistThe role of the committee was to:-advise the Board on all aspects of the CPD program-monitor and evaluate applications by organisations to become approved educational activity providers (EAPs)-evaluate applications from non-approved EAPs to have particular activities included in the CPD program-develop criterial and procedures for evaluating such applicationsThe committee held its first meeting on 17 June 2004. Meetings were held monthly, and the records consist of minutes and related papers for these meetings.
