资源简介:
This project advances the application of Spectroscopic Neutron Imaging (SNI) to investigate the behavior of BTEX+ components (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, methanol, ethanol, and methylcyclohexane), within engineered material systems. By utilizing the energy-resolved capabilities of the IMAT beamline, we aim to extract their hydrogen cross-sections (H-CS) to gain insight into their physico-chemical properties, molecular transport mechanisms, and sorption phenomena. A key objective is to expand the neutron imaging reference database for hydrogen in organic molecules, addressing a critical gap in current resources. This database will support both academic and industrial applications, particularly in sectors where these compounds serve as feedstocks, solvents, hydrogen carriers, additives, or intermediates in the production and processing of fuels, polymers, and resins. The project highlights the potential of SNI as a non-destructive, contrast-agent-free technique for resolving complex multiphase interactions. The outcomes are directly relevant to industries aiming to optimize material performance and meet increasingly stringent environmental standards.
