Saturated Hydraulic Conductivities of Drilling Mud Sumps in the Mackenzie River Delta
收藏资源简介:
The saturated hydraulic conductivities were measured using a double ring infiltrometer with a diameter of 17 cm. The inner and outer ring were filled to the same height and the time interval for each 1 cm drop was measured using a stopwatch. This waterlevel was kept at a 'constant' height (e.g. refilled after each 2 cm drop in waterlevel). The K_sat values were calculated using: Ks = V / A*t Where Ks is the hydraulic conductivity in m3/m2/s, V is the volume of water infiltrating into the soil (Area * height-drop) in m3, A is the inner area of the inner ring in m2, and t is the time in seconds (for each 1 cm waterlevel drop). All of the measurements took place during the ThinIce fieldwork in August 2024. Four drilling mud sumps were visited and the measurments were conducted on three of these sumps (Parsons E-02, Kamik F-38 and TukTuk A-12). The drilling mud sumps are located in the Northwest Territories, Canada, close to the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway. At least three separate hydraulic conductivity measurements were conducted on the sump caps and the surrounding tundra. If possible, measurements were also conducted on the sump rim. The dataset uses EPSG:4326 (WGS 84) coordinates.
