资源简介:
Unlike many countries worldwide, Türkiye's current average age of retirees is below 50. This study examines the effects of life satisfaction and reading motivation on lifelong learning among retirees. In this causal-comparative study, the sample included 271 retirees. The data, collected using three different scales, was analysed by gender, profession, age, education, and reading as a priority activity. Retirees with positive beliefs about education and reading had higher scores. Profession created differences in individuals' responses to lifelong learning, and scores increased across all scales as education levels rose. Lifelong learning was predicted by reading for oneself, level of education, reading for success in other areas, general life satisfaction, and reading for competence. In conclusion, the continuity of retirees' status as lifelong learners is proportional to their well-being and belief that education benefits them. Prioritizing education in studies targeting retirees will help prevent them from exiting the social system.
