Species of Suflolobus are found in almost every acidic hotsprings across the world, and they provide models to study life evolution and adaption, as well as basic molecular mechanisms of genetic information process such as DNA replication, transcription and translation. In recent years, adaptive immune system, that is CAS-CRISPR system, were discovered in Sulfolobus, which attracted more scientific attention to this unique microorganism. In this study, a new strain of Sulfolobus tengchongensis, HGQ25, was established from an acidic geothermal mud hole of Tengchong, Yunnan, and its full genome sequence was completed.
