Shotgun metagenomics was utilized in order to decipher changes in the microbial community in soil microcosms after 14 days of incubation at 23°C, which contained highly weathered Oxisol soils under napiergrass cultivation from biochar-amended and control plots two years after the initial application. The objective of the present study was to provide a high-resolution description of the community complexity, the genes and taxa responding to biochar amendment, and their potential effects on the soil C and N cycling.
