The Youth Forum of the European Communities and Cooperation with the Latin America

The Youth Forum of the European Communities (YFEC) has been a representative platform for youth organisations working at European level, has been involved in the integration process and in the development of youth policies. Since 1980, the YFEC has also been interested in European cooperation policy, in particular with the former colonial countries of Africa and the Caribbean, but has immediately supported the need to open up European cooperation to the countries of Latin America. Young Europeans have studied and analyzed the Latin American area and have established relations with South American youth organizations, promoting the creation of a regional platform to represent young people. In support of the process of regional integration in Latin America, the YFEC relied on the development of educational activities and relationships among young people. At the end of 1993, after five years of work at regional level and At the subregional level in Latin America, a platform of youth organisations has finally been established.
