Replication Data for: Matthews, Abigail A., Alyx Mark, and Monica Lineberger, "Publishing Public Law: Publication Trends in Law and Courts." Journal of Law and Courts. As expectations for research output evolve, tenure portfolios serve as archival records of the standards by which “impact” is measured in the Law and Courts subfield. We analyze the tenure-time publication records of 184 Law and Courts faculty at U.S. Ph.D.-granting institutions (1976–2021), focusing on three dimensions of scholarly output: publication count, venue diversification, and coauthorship. Our findings reveal that the median portfolio has grown from seven to ten peer-reviewed articles over four decades, that scholars now publish across a broad spectrum of generalist, subfield-specific, and interdisciplinary journals—rather than predominantly in the top-three political science outlets—and that coauthorship rates have doubled, albeit with persistent gendered collaboration patterns and private-institution advantages in top-tier publishing. These trends suggest shifting tenure expectations, complicate traditional metrics of research impact, and underscore the need to initiate data‐driven conversations about scholarly success in an increasingly multidisciplinary field Please review the Readme file.
